Lakshmi Temple is a tribute to the people and
nations who profess Hinduism in a variety of its forms.
Lakshmi is the wife (shakti, female hypostasis) of
the god Vishnu Guardian. She is the daughter of the
milk ocean and sister of the moon god. Lakshmi is
also known as Sri (this word means effulgence and
splendour) and Rama (Indwelling in everyone). Thus,
she represents the support for the phenomenal
world. Whoever aspires to Lakshmi ("welfare")
should begin to share with others and take care of
those around him.
This miniature is not a miniature copy of the
actually existing temple. The prayer ratha of
Dharmaraja in Mamallapuram became an
architectural prototype of the construction.
Match frame is decorated abundantly with images
of Lakshmi and Vishnu, beads, chains and bugles.
Pastes and Swarovski glue stones attach a special
brilliance to the work. A distinctive feature of the
miniature is the use of ice cream sticks. They
underlie the structure forming the ceiling of the first
and second tiers.
