Yuriy Vladimirovich Matushevskiy (1930-1999). Painter. Honored
Artist of Russia.
He graduated from the Irkutsk art school in 1949, then the Leningrad Institute of Applied Arts named after V. Muhina. There two genres dominate in the work of Matushevskiy: landscape and still life. His paintings are characterized by intense, open colors, decorativeness of composition. He worked together with masters of Vladimir painting school of the 1960s. He participated in the regional, national and all-Union exhibitions since 1957. He was a participant of the international auctions in Japan, Italy, USA, England, Belgium,
France, Luxembourg and Sweden. Paintings of Matushevskiy are reapetedly sold at the Christie's and Sotheby's auctions.
